The electrical and control side of a turbine is where many of the longest, most costly stoppages begin. A tripped wind turbine converter, a failed PLC or a loss of SCADA comms can idle a machine until a specialist with the right credentials reads the fault.
We match owners and asset managers to independent electrical and controls specialists who diagnose, repair and recommission the full electrical train, from the IGBT modules to the switchgear. Tell us your platform, the fault code and your state and we match the right provider.
Need advice?Tell us your turbine make, the fault code or symptom and whether you need HV switching. We match you to ticketed electrical specialists.
Your enquiry is sent to vetted service partners who may contact you directly. We never charge owners or asset managers.
Global Wind Organisation trained crews across the network.
Partners aligned with CEC codes of conduct.
Out-of-warranty support for major OEM platforms.
HV tickets, rope access (IRATA) and heavy-lift credentials.
A blade or gearbox fault is visible. An electrical fault is a code on a screen and a turbine that will not start, and it can be just as costly to leave unresolved.
Power electronics, controls and medium-voltage plant sit at the heart of every modern turbine. When they fault, the machine stops earning. Because much of this work is high-voltage and safety-critical, it must be carried out by ticketed, authorised specialists working to a safe system of work. We match owners and asset managers to those specialists, matched to the exact platform and the fault in front of you. For the mechanical side of a stoppage, pair this with pitch and yaw systems repair and the parent repair service.
The wind turbine converter is the single most common source of electrical downtime on many platforms. A tripped converter is rarely a reason to replace the whole unit. Most faults trace to a single IGBT module, a gate-driver board, a capacitor bank, a cooling fault or a control card. The specialists we match carry out component-level converter and inverter repair, including IGBT module replacement, which is far cheaper and faster than a full exchange and gets the machine back online sooner.
The turbine controller is the brain. When a PLC input card, a controller fault or an HMI issue stops the sequence, the whole machine sits idle. Controls engineers in the network read the logic, trace the signal and recover the fault, whether it is a sensor, a bus error or a software state. Reliable controller data also feeds back into condition monitoring, so a recovered fault is also a warning captured.
Beyond the nacelle sits the medium-voltage plant: the turbine transformer, ring-main switchgear and the cabling that ties the machine into the array. Transformer and switchgear faults, insulation breakdown and protection trips all need ticketed people. High-voltage (HV) testing and switching, insulation resistance testing and protection-relay coordination are routine for the network's authorised partners, who work to Australian standards and your site's switching procedures.
A turbine that cannot talk to the SCADA system is a turbine the operator cannot see. We match specialists who recover SCADA faults and communications dropouts, from fibre and copper links to protocol issues. On the grid side, grid-code compliance and fault-ride-through behaviour are now closely watched by network operators. The right specialist tunes controller settings, converter response and protection so a turbine or farm meets its connection requirements. Keep spares moving in parallel through parts and spares, and read the background in our wind turbine generator guide.
